Oops

I more or less gave up on trying to blog on schedule. So I've decided to do it whenever I happen to feel like it. Haha. This post isn't really anything interesting, but I felt like posting something...so here's the contents of my purse from when I cleaned it out the other day.
Wallet, Sunglasses, Mini lint brush, Powder, Deoderant, Pens, Lip stain, 2 lip glosses, 2 chapsticks, Hand sanitizer, 2 vitamin C drops, Flash drive, Ipod, bobby pins, Barette, Mini claw clip, Keys, Body spray, Backup phone charger.

Vinyl Sunday

I always attempt to take these photos during the day, when there is natural light. Unfortunately, natural light is a joke in New York state between the months of October and May. So these photos are equally as dark/bad as the other ones I've posted.

Baroness- Blue Record double LP 12"

More pictures than usual in this post because I love the artwork. I didn't do a very good job of showing the detail but you should take a look at John Baizley's artwork.

I don't really have a particular favorite song on this record. Every time I listen to it, I listen to the entire album, so it is all kind of one long song to me. Although I have taken a particular liking to The Sweetest Curse.

And as I always say, if you've never heard this band, you should check them out. You'll probably be able to tell pretty fast whether you love or hate them.

Easter Weekend

I don't really "celebrate" Easter, or at least not for what it's supposed to be celebrated for. It's the same thing I do for Christmas, and most other holidays, religious or not- I take them as nothing other than commercial holidays, and use them only for excuses for candy, presents, and family time. And even though this pisses off my Christan mother, who understandably does not appreciate me bogarting her religious holidays, I don't really see much of a problem with enjoying my very commercial holidays. So, even though this post is entitled 'Easter Weekend', that just means 'I bought more stuff and I'm going to blog about it.'

Hopefully my life will at one point be interesting enough that I have better things to blog about rather than the stuff I buy. I mean, I think this stuff is awesome. But it's probably not interesting to read about. Why does anyone look at my blog?

  • Here's a picture of me looking kind of easter-like. Not Intentional, I mostly look that way all the time. I really like pastels! Just figured a better photo was due, I guess, since I posted a mirror shot last time. And also I got that scarf for free today.
  • Next to it are some pay-day presents to myself. I really needed some new makeup, and lately I've been buying expensive stuff from Ulta. I'm a strong believer that most expensive makeup just works better. However, I didn't feel like spending a ton of money today, so I settled for some regular brands. And I'm actually very happy with what I chose. I've been trying to find a foundation that is pale enough for me/the right shade of pale. I bought Maybelline's FIT in the palest shade- 110, and then the powder in 115, which is the next shade up, because it has a little bit of a pink undertone like my skin does. This combination works PERFECTLY for me. I love this stuff. Besides that, there's just some eyeshadow and my second Covergirl lipstain. I really like these, but the color of the tubes is almost nothing like the shade you get.
  • Girly things aside, on to one of my other favorite things- Futurama! Futurama is probably my favorite show ever. It has everything I love in a show. It's science fiction, and it's hilarious. I just recently got done watching the whole series on Netflix, so I was really excited when I saw this today. I really love reading- especially comics- so I'm pretty stoked to read my favorite show in comic form.

  • I got this Shirley Temple double DVD set at CVS the other day, but I also noticed that they carry it at a few other stores. It was only $10. Also got more nail polish, I really love both of these colors. Sally Hansen Red Carpet and Grey Area. Red Carpet looks awesome on, it's even more sparkly than you can tell in this picture. Grey Area also looks good, but it seems to be tinted purple just a little bit. That's why I bought it, actually, but just sayin' that it isn't really flat grey.

  • I actually got these shoes a few weeks ago, but I wear them almost every day now, so I figured I'd post 'em. I actually already forget what brand they are. So this was kind of pointless.

Tomorrow I'm going down to SUNY Geneseo with my family to visit my cousin and attend her school's gay pride night event. Easter breakfast with family + close family friends on Sunday. Should be a fun weekend overall, but I'm mainly just excited that it's the weekend. Being an adult and working all week is hard! Wah.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

I'm baaack

Hi! It's been quite a while since I updated this thing. After I missed a couple posts, I only got lazier. Internet laziness is the worst kind of laziness. Anyway, I'm sorry. I didn't think I'd even have anyone to apologize to, but according to my IP Tracker, some people actually look at this thing. I love you people. Thanks for liking my blog. Or stalking me for hatred purposes. Either way, thanks doods.

So...I don't even really know what to post about. I got a new fancy phone, and finally got on my own plan. I have a full time job at a law firm. I buy things, I donate money, I wear heels, I contribute to society. It's weird. Anyway, I've got some pictures from my phone. I've got the HTC Thunderbolt, and it takes some pretty awesome photos as far as phones go. I should probably dedicate a whole post to the serious technology boner that I have for this phone.

But, back to the photos...they're all of pretty silly things that aren't really blog worthy. But I'm going for it anyway.
Here's a stupid picture of some of the crap I've blown money on lately. Makeup, Nail polishes, perfume, hair accessories, and then the dvd of Let Me In, (great movie) which I could have downloaded, but bought because it came with a comic book. I'm also going to buy some more heels in the future, and I've got a list of about 50 science fiction/fantasy books I want to buy off of amazon. Seriously feel free to suggest some though, I cannot get enough of that stuff.

I KNOW mirror shots are never acceptable, and especially not on a blog. But it's the only photo I have of myself that isn't laughable, and I just really like this outfit. I promise I'll never do this again.
The second is a photo of a couple of the things I've drawn faces on at work. Yes, that does mean there are more things. My inner child throws fits at work because being an adult hurts and no one close to my age works in my office.
The third is just a photo I took out my window that I liked. It looks kind of crappy now that I compressed it and sent it to my email. Oh well.

This post kind of sucks. I'll try to make the next one better. And sooner.

Books

I really don't have anything interesting to post about. However, I did have a very successful trip to Goodwill lately and picked up some awesome books. So here's what I'm currently reading: The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut and The X-Files Antibodies by Kevin J. Anderson.

I've read the beginning of The God Delusion on about 4 different occasion in libraries and book stores, so I'm glad I finally got my own copy so I can finish it out. Really loving what I've read so far.

The Sirens of Titan is quite possibly my new favorite book. I'm not even halfway through it yet and I adore it.    It's definitely my favorite Vonnegut book that I've read so far. If you are a fan of Vonnegut (I know he isn't for everyone) and sci-fi, than this is the perfect book for you. (This book is perfect for me.)

Last but not least, yep- not only do I obsess over the show- I read the books. Haha. My best friend Kelly got me the first one I read from another Goodwill, kind of as a joke, since I love the show so much. Then I read it, and really loved it. So I've been on the lookout for more of them and happened to come across this one. I'm only a few pages into it so far.

Music Monday

What I've been listening to this past week.

I'm a really big fan of listening to great songs on repeat.

Vinyl Sunday

Man, I suck at consistency. Haven't made a post since last Monday. Oh well, at least I remembered to do this!

Cheap Girls- Find Me A Drink Home 12"

I'm sorry this picture sucks so bad. It's all gloomy outside so it was hard to get any good natural light, and the light bulb in my ceiling lamp blew today. My mom and I are both too short to reach it-even standing on a chair. So until we find a solution, my room will have to be illuminated solely by my computer, Christmas lights, and bedside table light.
Anyway, this album is awesome. Every single person I have ever told about this band has ended up totally loving them. I can't pick one favorite song on this record. I really love Kind of on Purpose and No One to Blame. Also, Her & Cigarettes is a really awesome acoustic song, and everyone always seems to love it instantly.

Music Monday

Don't make fun of me for this being kind of the same thing as vinyl sunday. I just need things to blog about!

Most listened to artists from the past week or so. I thought it was kind of funny how this worked out..all the loud music on the top row, and all the girly stuff on the bottom.

Vinyl Sunday

I used to do this on tumblr but kind of gave up and kept forgetting all the time. I read somewhere that blogs are more interesting if they have reoccurring themes, like making a certain kind of post on a certain day of the week every week. Now, I don't know if that's true, or if I really care, but I think I'm going to try to start doing some things like this so that I can feel like my blog sort of has a purpose. Also, that way I'll be blogging somewhat consistently.

So, I'm a little afraid to do this because (apparently) it kind of makes me seem like a pretentious asshole. However, my record collection is the only kind of collection of anything I've ever had. My records are probably my favorite things that I own.
I've seen people complain before that collecting vinyl is "trendy" but I think that's absolutely absurd. Even if it is trendy, I don't see how that's a bad thing. It's becoming much less common for people to buy CD's anymore, and buying vinyl is a great way to make sure that the artists that you listen to still make the money they deserve. I also like buying vinyl because I really feel as if it's money well spent, because the product I get out of it is tangible and makes me feel like a good fan for owning it.
Although I do still purchase CD's on occasion, it's rare, because I don't like spending money on a few small pieces of thin plastic that will surely get broken and scratched, even when belonging to someone less clumsy than I. When I buy vinyl, I've spent my money on a thick disc, envelope, and artwork the size of my torso, and I still get all the same music (and sometimes bonus tracks!). Not to mention a large majority of the time it's colored vinyl, and that's always exciting. If you try to tell me you aren't pleasantly surprised when you pull a non-black record out of the sleeve for the first time, I won't believe you.

Anyway, I won't rant like this next time. Just wanted to express my thoughts about it.

I figured I'd start with the 7 inch I mentioned in my recent post about our roadtrip to Long Island.
Paint it Black- Amnesia 7"

Paint it Black is one of my favorite bands, and if you know me at all, you're probably sick of hearing me talk about how underrated I think they are. If for some reason you aren't into them yet, please check them out! Salem is my favorite track on this record.

p.s it took me so long to write this, that it isn't even sunday anymore. Oh well.

Nails

After about 15 years of biting my nails, I finally stopped a few months ago. I've tried so many times but failed horribly. But a few months ago, one day I was just like "hey Jess...cut it out", and I just didn't do it anymore. Probably the only time I've ever exercised any self-control, haha. I was pretty proud of myself, but mostly just really excited to have long, pretty nails. At the time, I was working at Sally Beauty Supply, and spent most of my shifts staring at the nail polish, and I also started quite the polish collection. I've been painting my nails a new color weekly ever since.

Lately, I've been lurking on a few nail-related blogs, so I've been even more obsessed with polish colors and nail art. Unfortunately, I don't have that many awesome colors, nor do I have most of the tools to do the really awesome things I'd like to do. However, I did something with my nails this week that I thought was pretty! (besides being kind of sloppy).
I'm aware the top photo is kind of stupid looking, but I was trying to use the light from outside so you could see it better. Both of the nail polishes are 99cent ones that I got from Sally's.
I'm probably more excited than I should be about this, however, I'll probably make more posts like this one in the future if I end up doing something else that I'm excited about for silly girly reasons.

Little Kitty

This is my kitty, Beeb. Her full name was originally Penelope + a hundred last names that I can't even remember now. We didn't call her Penelope even once, I don't think. She was the tiniest little baby when I got her, she was such a little beeb, so we always called her that, and she's always been that since.

Anyway, she is the only responsible thing I have ever done in my life so far. Haha. I took care of her and fed her and made her a bed in a basket (even though she mostly slept on my chest). I tried really hard to make her grow up into a loving cat, instead of one of those asshole cats that lures you in with cuteness but won't snuggle you at all. She turned out well, she's never been mean and everyone has always loved her. Some of my friends adopted her brothers and sisters, and most of them turned out to be crazy and mean.

One time she got really sick and couldn't control herself and accidentally pooped buckets of slimy diarrhea all over my stuff. But I still love her. She's big and fat now, but she's still adorable, and she is more loving and cuddly than ever.

Travels

Last June, 2010, on my birthday weekend. Some friends & I drove to Long Island to see our friends Fireworks play with Paint it Black, and Crime in Stereo. The show was awesome, I picked up a PIB shirt and their Amnesia 7-inch. We stayed with a friend in Long Island for the weekend. He briefly showed us around the area and one of the places we went was a Place called the Witches Brew Coffee shop. Easily the coolest coffee shop I've ever been in.

We also did the tourist-y one-day New York City trip since we were so close by. We mostly just walked around and visited central park, where I took some photos of innocent bystanders who have no idea that I have photos of them. Creepy?

In the rest of the photos, we all look like dirty bums, so they would be embarassing for all parties involved. However, I will leave you with this little jem that Kelly & I spotted in a rest-stop bathroom.

Time for a Real Post

So, it's been...a few hours since my last post. I went to check out some other blog sites and decided to stick with this one. (Mostly just because I had already made a post, and because Hyperbole and A Half is on blogspot and it is my favorite thing on the internet.)
So anyway, now it's time to make a real post! This blog will be mainly a photo blog, but with some other things thrown in there. I also have a Flickr! Besides updating periodically with a new photo, I will probably update every now and then with an old photo.
Originally, I was going to make this an introduction-type-post, but describing  myself on here felt a little silly, and I realized that until I somehow get internet famous for my super interesting blog, most of the people who will be looking at this blog will probably know me in real life...and I don't want to be redundant by describing myself to them. This post is getting a little long and heavy with bad sentence structure. I'll wrap this up with a photo and a a quick introduction, just in the case of someone who doesn't know me stumbling across this blog.
<---That's me. But mostly it is just my arm. That's the only self-portraity-like photo that's going on here for a while.
My name is Jessica Jones, I'm 20 years old. I really like kitties and things that are pretty. I don't like to wear pants, (dresses forever) unless they are leggings, and I am completely aware those don't count as real pants. I also am interested in sci-fi and fantasy-type-things. I am Infinitely curious, girly, and nerdy. Fan of change & always learning. Friendly lady and girlfriend of a great man. Lover of things otherworldly.

First Post!

Decided it was time to ditch my Tumblr and get a real grown up blog. I'm not sure if I like it yet!
I want to throw a photo in here because I can, so here's a photo of Scully from the X-files.
Oh neat, I can type over here on this side of the picture. I don't really have much else to say, but I really like typing over here, so I suppose I can manage to keep talking. I'm listening to Stars- 'Changes'. I have to pee. My plans for the rest of the day include: eat dinner, play Sims. That's it. I lead an exciting life. I can't wait until I have something more interesting to blog about. (Assuming such a day ever comes.) Maybe one day my life will even be interesting enough that lots of people will read my blog and then I can put ads on it, and make money off it, and get paid to do things like watch the X-files and then talk about it on my blog. Big dreams. Alright, I think this has gone on a little too long. When do I get to start typing over there again? Oh...good timing. I swear I didn't plan that. I swear, to all you no people who read my blog. I want a fucking pizza. A whole pizza. To myself. Alright seriously this time, I'm done with this first post. Tl;dr.
